TWO MANY DOGS

At the June 21st Conservation Commission meeting, Joyce Miller brought up a letter received from the public.  In the letter, an abutter complained about the continuing invasion of her property by dogs.  She called the police and had a dog walker ticketed for having dogs not under control. A number of dogs came on her property.  Furthermore, they ate her dog's food.  She proposed banning professional dog walkers, limiting the number of dogs per person to 1 or 2.  The ConCom discussed it and appeared sympathetic but are not doing anything - essentially, build your own fence if dogs cause a problem.  Commissioner Duke Bitsko made the best suggestion - let the meadow near her house naturalize and the dogs won't be able to get there through the swath of sumac et al that will grow up.  We'll publish the whole letter and the video of the part of the meeting (for dedicated LexMedia watchers, it is on 6/21/2011, part 2, the last item).


Of course, the current 3 dog restriction is absurd.  If you are allowed to have 5 dogs in your house, why can't you take them out to Willard's?  You can send as many children as you want to school without paying extra taxes.
